Ravens don't usually live close to urban centers anyway, but main difference visually is 1) size 2) throat feathers 3) tail feathers. (they also sound different from crows)
I know one of the biggest issues I kept coming back to when I was reading Yozakura Family was that the fights never had tension. It was EXTREMELY rare that it ever felt as if the heroes were going to lose or that they were even being pushed at all. The series very much became a battle series and while not all battles need tension, it just never had that for most of them. That said I still enjoyed the series for what it was and while it was normally the bottom of the pile for chapter I was looking forward to reading I still had fun with it most weeks.
The funniest thing about you two finishing up Yozakura Family is that like… not even a handful of days ago, they released information implying Hitman Reborn is getting a remake manga to coincide with the remake anime. Which is a hell of a thing! They're very similar series in a lot of way. Also, I gotta say: Quinn you are 1000% correct I cannot begin to describe how livid I was that Kyoichiro's fight with his obvious secret boyfriend got off-screened!!!!
So, maybe I'm just not locked in with Blue Box, but it's ending right? It's definitely reaching an ending soon, right? Cause it really feels like it.
I'm of too worlds. On the one hand, Nik is right, Madcat Misery is better in small doses. But she should absolutely join the harem as the "member that is clearly not going to win so she just shows up sometimes". Because you know what else is better in small doses? Poison! After all, you wouldn't want anyone to get seriously ill when you're trying to poison them right? [author note: Madcat Misery was an innocent girl]
See the payoff of all these apparent wrestling references is that Loki's gonna take off his bandage and go "can't see me" and just flashstep around beating the shit out of people.
Oh damn, an interesting recommendation! Looking forward to it, if I recall this is the one Araki made for the Museum of Natural History?
This is my first time coming across this podcast as someone whose all-time favorite series is MYF. I've been reading since Ch. 1, followed the anime, etc. Honestly, I enjoyed watching this review. While I'm confident I can list good counterpoints to much of the criticism, there are multiple points (mainly regarding dropped characters and stagnation) that I agree with and even laughed as you guys addressed them. I appreciate that you guys addressed it with respect and an appreciation of its existing fanbase and the fact that some things just aren't for everyone. I'm working on a video essay analysis of the series, so I hope that in the years to come the series can reach more people who find a fraction of the meaning I found in it.
