Quick correction: Corn is an exclusively New World crop, Keitl's farm mainly comprises of WHEAT.
Another correction, though it can be easy to miss. Thorfinn was remembering a village he was part of pillaging early in his days with Askeladd.
Not only does the timeline not match up to Thorfinn killing Einar's dad, but Einar's dad was killed by the ENGLISH army, not the Danes.
Thorfinn was connecting to Einar's trauma from the perpetrator's POV.

Thorfinn did not burn down Einar’s village, but he participated in a similar activity in the past when he was still fighting on the side of Askeladd’s mercenary band. He was still a child back then as he was horrified by the memory of him and Askeladd’s band burning an innocent village to the ground.

that last scene was from season 1. the first village Askeladd and his team went to after killing Thorfinn’s dad. They burned down a village and Thorfinn seen it.
Not all slavery is equal conditions. Chattel slavery in the Americas during the 16th – 18th centuries for example there wasn't much if any opportunity for becoming free. During slave society prior to feudalism it was so common to be a slave that people were compelled into it due to things like not being able to feed or house themselves. Or even to sell yourself into slavery to pay off debts. Also yall are applying a lot of the conditions of chattel slavery black people faced in America to these peoples situation. The whole don't even look at a woman thing stems from racism towards black people. That's why you have the stories of slavers torturing slaves for looking at their wives or daughters.
