  4. A MUCH improved trailer! Glad they listened to the reaction to the first teaser. While the original did use CGI, it still mostly relied on practical effects for the battles and was better for it. These battle scenes will lack the same stakes given how phony they look. Gladiator is one of my favorite films and I will be there opening day for this one with an open if hesitant mind.

  11. It was quite an experience to be a part of this movie. From boot camp to archery and sword training to the long filming days under scorching heat in Malta. Cannot wait to see the finished product in November.

  32. Making Lucious Maximus' son undermines the character of Maximus from the first film. Maximus has no character arc. He stays the same throughout the entire film. Faithful to his wife, gods, and country. He is the epitome of what it is to be a man. Every other character in the film has an arc BECAUSE of who Maximus is.

    They all rise to their station in order to be more like him, that is, except for Commodus. Commodus is the exact opposite of Maximus. The moraless man. A weak man. The thought and idea of Maximus drives him to reckless evil behavior out of jealousy.

    Hollywood will fail with this movie because they are 100% against everything the first film stands for. Which is, taking an upright moral masculine man and throwing him into the deepest darkest dungeon. He overcomes due to his upright masculine character. Modern Hollywood HATES these ideals and are incapable of recapturing the allure of Gladiator.

  35. Dam! AWESOME TRAILER! 1,000 times better than the first silly 'rap' music score they put in the first trailer. GLADIATOR is my all-time favourite movie. This second trailer actually gave me goosebumps! It's a shame Russel Crowe couldn't have made some sort of cameo appearance like a relative of MAXIMUS. I've always thought that GLADIATOR should have had an alternative ending too. Strength and honor!
