I am… unreasonably excited for this. The franchise has been approached in a variety of ways over the years, but it's been tricky to find something really fresh since T2. Bringing in the studio behind Ghost In the Shell Standalone Complex and positing a rival AI from a different country is actually pretty good. In the video above, it's clear IG have pinned the western Skynet/Terminator heavy-metal aesthetic – now let's see that meet the lightweight carbon and ceramic engineering of the Japanese equivalents. I know the writer's made his name working on big western projects, but I'd love to see some east/west collaboration in the ideas and development here. Fingers crossed.
