  1. They say u dont have to play the first game to understand this once story but there are some bits of info that u wld not fully get with out the first game

  2. As for the little stageplays randomly throughout the episode they will NOT be explained in this show so for a brief explanation of the first one

A long time ago the first robot to develop sentience decided to share his sentience with all other robots, he exploded on top of a mountain and gave all the robots the gift of sentience and desires. The robots interpreted this as a volcano errupting and as a gift from God.

  3. So there is a quick blink-and-miss it Easter egg in this episode. Specifically when the Machine Lifeform starts researching the history of humanity, one of the video clips in a montage is a news report of a monster attacking Tokyo, and image next to the reporter is of a dragon impaled on the Tokyo Tower. The dragon is named Angelus and is one of the main characters of Drakengard 1. It’s a reference to Ending E of Drakengard 1, the events of which basically started the entire NieR and NieR: Automata timeline.

  4. They're doing real justice to the philosophical part of the game for now, i wasn't sure about the anime when they first announced it but now I'm really hyped for the future of this!

  5. I would like to explain that right from the start all (human) people in this episode are androids, including the soldiers, the last humans are on the moon and control the missions of the Yorha soldiers from there

  6. I did not expect for the second episode to take a route like this with the Machine, I wonder how much it would keep adding perspectives to fit the timeline without being just the normal game alone in a straightforward story progression gameplay meaning

  7. There are no humans on earth. Lily and her people are androids as well, just not YORHA units, if memory serves. The only humans in this show are on the moon, unless the anime makes some major changes to the plot which, so far, they haven't.

  8. On being outside the mecha: Well, I haven't played the game, but I'd guess that the point of being in a mecha for humans is that the human is soft and squishy but valuable, and the mech is a robot and armored but expendable. But 2B is a robot herself, and if she dies they can back her up, so it isn't as important that the mecha protect her — it provides mobility and firepower. In fact, if they left off the armor, that would enclose a pilot, that means the mech could be lighter and faster. IN other words, it's sort of closer to a fast jeep with a missile launcher on top rather than a lumbering but well armored tank.

  9. The fact that someone who is supposed to be dead for four years now is up and about might mean this is some bizarre alternative reality shit.
