  1. This was an already injured Gardar. Not only that, he was hellbent on killing anyone in his path using adrenaline and rage with brute strength and wasn't thinking his strikes. Similar to what thorfinn was like with askellad and askellad toyed with thorfinns head so he can react and get in his head. If an "all aware" gardar faced snake and wasn't injured, snake would have been in trouble here. Gardar probably lived in same path where thorfinn could have been. Gardar was a regular folk, went to war, saw a lot of stuff, survived it all and turned into a slave and killed his masters because of one objective that is haunting him – to get back to his family.

  2. Anyone knows what is the song name appearing at the final part of episode 15 of season 2? (When they soldiers are searching for the escaped slave and Arnheid)

  3. It’s damn devious to think Gardar was right but at the same time he fucked up. Arnheid was his wife, turned into a slave (even sexual), his son was murdered for commercial reasons so you might think he’s fight for her and vengeance is totally justified, and it’s, but this is not an USA 90 movie in where a badass guy, rescue the girl killing hundreds of bad people. In this story there’s consequences, and most of the times they are really bad. Gardar has no army and his plan is really poor, by failing he doomed his wife and himself.
This is where the importance of Thorfinn comes in, violence didn’t solve the problem or the injustice, it got worse with it.

  4. everybodies saying 'oh if gardar wasnt injured he wouldve won' but honestly i think his dumb brute strength and lack of thinking was the only reason snake was on the ropes here. gardar clearly wasnt thinking about blocking at all, and thats the only reason snake took so long to strike, because he knew that he wouldve been cut down if he went at him normally because the sick man wasnt thinking about himself

  5. for those who dont understand snake's attack that won him the fight, he used the back of his sword (dull side of the blade) to strike gardar's wound that was sustained earlier. this caused gardar to be overcome with pain, effectively incapacitated.

  6. I love this Thorfinn, I mean of course he’s going to mature etc. . But what I love is in that moment he was the one say something so logical and real.

  7. 2:23 is this the first time people acknowledge a yelling conversation on anime? 😂 Dude let them have a whole conversation and responded like a normal person. Usually characters go into a pocket dimension for these conversations in anime.

  8. This was a whole dbz fight with conversations and a relentless turn-based battle. Really loved how quickly you just go over that fight in the manga but here it just dragging on unnecessarily, just saying this should of been a quick one-two like thors vs askeladd, but anime battle go brrr i guess

  9. Read way ahead in the manga if anyone else is thinking about it, it gets pretty awful and it doesn’t seem to know if it wants to tread the enlightenment line of violence and questioning existence or overcoming past regrets.. or just make pop culture reference jokes with absolutely awful characters writing and direction.. it’ll definitely be competing with demon slayer for shittiest ways manga turned out

  10. Is anyone else really tired of Thorfinn being a pussy in this season? Like this show used to be good but I’m done with him acting like a bitch. SPOILER I just finished the episode where Arnheid died and I’m sick of him not standing up.

  11. Oh I got a question: is the word they using to address snake “ brother” or does it hard translate to “ boss”. Calling your boss, “Boss” is a seemingly affectionate was of addressing them, so I was curious if they just go the whole mile

  12. In the manga when he asked if he was Ketil Gardar replies “then you’re dead” and that goes way harder than “I’ll kill you”

  13. I feel conflicted when watching season 2. On one hand, I'm fascinated with Thorfinn's character development, but on the other hand the same development makes me go "ah the typical hippie pacifist again"

  14. "can you kill a man?" "Can you use the axe to kill a man?" That quote right there is amazing especially the fact that no matter how strong you are there's more than one man (as man as humanity/gender neutral as in old English) or a man be able to overpower you or your body couldn't bring it'self to kill a man

  15. I am a little concerned, his name is not gardar.

I am Japanese and have seen the original Japanese version and his name was garzar, not gardar.
Since the original Japanese version is garzar, it is a mystery why it is written as gardar in the translation.

  16. I love that they capture the danger of certain injuries. Anime is very good at downplaying the results (Demon slayer). A fever was deadly and they thought it was supernatural 😅

  17. Garder was injured twice. And massively Enraged.

If he was in prime condition and more level headed it could honestly have gone either way.

  18. At 0:10 Snake says in the English subtitles "If you do, I'll kill him", whereas when you watch the episode with French subtitles he does not threaten to kill Gardar but rather to cut off Arnheid's arm if she decides to take Gardar's hand. I wonder why that difference in translation was made.

  19. I love how Einar wanted Arnheid to be free so badly that he was willing to risk his life to make sure he she could run away with Gardar. All while knowing he wanted to be with her too. That’s real love. He wanted her to be happy even if it wasn’t with him. I can’t stand when some people call him a “simp” for it. It was bigger than him.
