  1. I imagine that all that beautiful original wood flooring was beyond salvation because of the stink that would have saturated it over the years. It is a crying shame it could not be treated and replaced.

  2. Cole, you have so many nice things and you are throwing them away with your unsafe airborne contamination practices. You have GOT to start taking that stuff seriously. Did you even test that that feces infested insulation for asbestos? Cause you literally powderized it and stood in the cloud. All three of you.

  3. I have caution you about long term health hazard of asbestos exposure in this video. I have not made these comments to be negative but to support you and your family health. Your state has rules for testing prior to demolition and construction and it is for your safety others who are working on your project. Good luck and keep up the good work.

  4. Cole,
I was under the impression that you were not going to be doing the attic first.

The basement was to be first, to support the upper floors, correct?
Remove the windows and remove the soft boards; then rearrange walls, clean and either sheetrock or paint the cement walls. Do the floor area. Done? Yes?
    Correct? Thanks

  5. Go to a resale store. Buy a bunch of blankets and spread them around that floor in several layers. Find the thickest blankets. Then, after winter, take them off, wash, and donate. 🎉😊

  6. Me: take that window out so that you can throw all the trash out easily and then put the window back in.
Also me: the dry wall anchors for my curtains are coming out of the walls.
    😂😂😂😂😂

  7. What Cole has done to that house and property is a disgrace. It looks like some bland suburban house in a new devolpment. He wiped away all the decades of family history. No trees, no nothing. Does he even ask his wife what she wants? He’s a no it all without knowing anything.

  9. Anyone who cannot stand wood creaking…..should not live in a 100+ year old wood house IMO.
I'm betting that replacing that oak flooring is going to be very expensive or a cheap replacement will have to be used..
    I understand it's his house….but Geez.
Still wondering where the children's and guest rooms are supposed to be with all the walls being taken down.
We'll see how it turns out….

  10. Cole you could use the old flooring that your grandparents great grandparents and great great grandparents walked on and use for the ceilings in some of the rooms. Never to be walked on again but always to be in the house and with you and your family. It's to bad that there won't be enough to lay back down. No matter what you do though I'm sure all your grandparents are proud of you and all you and your family have accomplished. I wish I could send you some money to help but am going thru chemo for breast cancer. I wish you all the luck in the world , it's going to be beautiful when you are done. I can't wait to see it. Congratulations on your marriage and your kids, wow . My grandson loves you n nave. Me too keep up the awesome work. God Bless you all.

  11. I was wondering about Roman. Seems he is helping with the rebuild.
I absolutely hate when sub-flooring is put in with nails. Screws are the only way to do it correct.
Love it the 'Lathe Knocker 2000'

  12. We are in a timber framed log house which makes a ton of settling noise. The worst is when it starts 'cracking' at one end of the roof timber and follows all the way across the house. It's funny watching new unassuming people when the settling noises happen and we really don't hear it much anymore. We do almost hit the roof in the middle of the night when we get a huge settling with the temperature change! We also have a trussed floor under the main floor and it moves as people walk on it. When my 5# kitty was walking on the floor, it sounded like an elephant! We are waiting to put in vinyl plank floor and hope the direction of the new floor going perpendicular will have it fell stronger. I just found your YT channel tonight and have already watched 4 shows! The first was the fix of the garage with the 9,000 wrenches! Love the humor… and the subtitles!

  13. there are screws that the head breaks off under the wood and only leaves a tiny hole for floors that squeak. I used them on a renovation I did a few years ago and it worked out great, no need to take up the old hardwoods if they are worth keeping

  14. What a WONDERFUL home. I'll bet the timber used to build it was REAL 2"x 6, 8, 10, 12 & 16" !!!
It's a shame all of that old wood from the house can't be re-purposed somehow.

  15. Found your channel today thank you YouTube. It's my kind of show, obviously you're in the Midwest, where I grew up. I figured Roman was Ukrainian by his accent and you confirmed it . Loved the show! 😎

  16. It's a shame that you have to lose all that lathing and not put up plaster like it used to have, but that stuff is crazy expensive nowadays.

  17. When sistering joists, you should use nails and not screws. In my state it is required and the nails have to be a certain pattern. Not arbitrary, either. You are trying to make two boards integral to each other.
