Helga made Thors realise that there is no meaning in war, and Askeladd taught Thorfinn that life is important. Now Thorfinn understands when his father said "A true warrior doesn't need a sword". He can finally experience the world from a different perspective.

The pure dread and horror on Thorfinn's face as he realizes what he has done in the past. The homes he destroyed, families he ruined, memories of them rushing into his mind while Einer speaks about his past. And then Einer lifting him up as if saying "it's alright"… You will see Thorfinn change in this arc and by change, I mean it. he's gonna be a totally different person from here and the sheer weight of his character development made me cry like a newborn. some people say that this arc is not as good as the previous arc as this doesn't have as many fights as the previous one but I think it's not the fights that define Vinland Saga. They never did. it's Thorfinn Vinland saga is about. The man he grows into is so impactful I might as well say he's one of the best MCs ever period. Y'all aren't ready for what's gonna happen in this season!!

Both ending and opening are basically representing his regret over the countless souls he has taken and it's time for redemption definitely the most interesting arc in my opinion the human emotions it contains and the various wisdoms it Carries are an example for thorfinn and for us .
